CLARA
Clara was born to Zanga on May 27th, 2010, at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden. In the wild, female bonobos leave their natal group at the age of sexual maturity. Similarly, Clara joined the Ape Initiative bonobo family in May, 2019 - as part of the Bonobo Species Survival Plan (SSP). Clara is a social butterfly, and made fast friends with Elikya, Kanzi, Maisha, Nyota, and Teco. Clara is a training expert, and participates voluntarily in all of our husbandry training programs. Our bonobos and staff are in love with this sweet and savvy girl!
